Whether fleas or allergies are making your pet miserable, hot spots are a common result. Hots spots are a painful circle of inflamation that occurs when a pet rubs, licks or bites at an inflamed area of the skin. While not easy to cure, there are some simple solutions to help your pet out.

First, clean the area well, cutting back any hair that may be irritating the spot.

Next, use a face cloth soaked with cool water and green or black tea as a compress.

Apply a thin coat of aloe, vitamin E or hydrocortizone cream.

If all this fails to clear up the spot, try Burow's solution. In the end, though, you may have to take your pet to the vet for medications.
